Integrated with Orisec HKC Milestone XProtect

Watch a Density system deploy

Density® units fire in under one second after a confirmed trigger, filling target zones in seconds. Fill time depends on the selected model, protected volume, layout and ventilation.

Become a partner

Add an active deterrent to the systems you already install. Density fog is triggered by the panel as a recognised output, so there is no parallel system to sell, no separate app for your customer, and no new head-end to learn.

  • Tested to BS EN 50131-8, used alongside NSI and SSAIB approved systems
  • Trade pricing and a maintainable service line on every contract
  • Sizing, commissioning and fire-interface support before you quote

Why installers specify Density

Fog is the layer your customers are being asked for

Alarms and CCTV detect and record. Neither of them stops a team that is already inside and working to a plan. Insurers and specifiers increasingly want an active deterrent on concentrated-value risk — and that is a specification you can win, install and maintain on the panels you already know.

1

It fits your existing panel

Orisec over RS232 or wireless, HKC over SecureWave, Milestone XProtect on the VMS side. No parallel system, no separate keypad, no new head-end to sell.

2

A named engineer, not a ticket queue

Pre-sales sizing, coverage calculations and commissioning support from a UK technical contact who knows the panels — before you quote and while you are on site.

3

Standards your specifier recognises

Density systems are tested to BS EN 50131-8 and used alongside NSI and SSAIB approved installations, so the fog layer does not become the weak point in a graded system.

4

Recurring revenue, not a one-off box

Fluid, annual service and coverage re-checks give you a maintainable line on the contract, with Active Cloud giving you remote diagnostics instead of a site visit.

5

You keep the customer

We supply and support the installer. Enquiries that arrive through us for your area are referred, not competed for.

6

Your installer resource hub

Available manuals, six product data sheets and software are in the resource hub. Approved partners receive a separate private portal login for their work and company-specific marketing materials.

Panel & VMS integrations

Three integrations, one commissioning workflow

Density works with the manufacturers our installers already carry. Each integration is native — programmed from the panel or platform you are already in, not bolted on with relays and guesswork.

Intruder panel · wired or wireless

Orisec

Density fog generators are integrated into the Orisec ecosystem, so setup and fogging management sit inside the menu structure you already use — including remotely over UDL.

  • WiredDensity RS232 Lead Kit to the RS232 COM port on the Orisec control panel
  • WirelessW-Density wireless integration module for compatible Orisec panel ranges
  • ProgrammingFully integrated within the Orisec menu structure, UDL and the Orisec application
  • Installer winRemote configuration and diagnostics via UDL — fewer return visits
Intruder panel · wireless

HKC

HKC’s RF-FOG module links the panel to a Density generator over SecureWave two-way encrypted wireless, so a fog output needs no additional cabling on a retrofit.

  • ModuleHKC RF-FOG wireless fogging module
  • PanelHKC 10270 control panel
  • LinkSecureWave two-way encrypted wireless — no extra wiring
  • TriggersAlarm, confirmed alarm, panic and confirmed panic, with separate discharge times for alarm and panic events
Video management · VMS

Milestone XProtect

For sites where video is the primary platform, Density integrates on the VMS side — bringing fog status into XProtect and allowing a verified event to release fog under the operator’s rules.

  • PlatformMilestone XProtect video management software
  • MonitoringFog system state and health surfaced alongside camera and event data
  • ActivationRelease on a verified event, under operator rules and permissions
  • Best forMulti-site estates and monitored sites already standardised on XProtect

Commissioning

From survey to signed off

Four steps, and we are available on the phone at every one of them.

  1. Size the zone

Send us the protected volume and the risk. We return the generator model, head position and expected fill time — before you price the job.

  2. Wire or pair it

RS232 lead or W-Density module on Orisec, RF-FOG on HKC 10270. Fluid canister fitted, mains and battery backup terminated.

  3. Programme from the panel

Set trigger conditions and discharge duration in the panel menu — or remotely over UDL. Add Active Cloud or Active Server for oversight.

  4. Test and hand over

Live discharge test, evidence for the insurer or specifier, and a customer walkthrough. Service interval and fluid schedule set on the contract.

Density Active Cloud

Manage every fog system you have installed, from anywhere

Active Cloud is Density’s hosted management platform. A Cloud LAN board fits inside the fog generator and connects to the system bus, putting every device you have commissioned on one control panel in the browser — mobile or desktop, one site or an estate.

What the installer gets

  • Remote diagnostics. Analytical control of all features with real-time system status, so a fault call is triaged before anyone gets in a van.
  • Remote arm and discharge. Arm or fire one or more systems, with discharge time set in seconds — useful for witness tests and demonstrations.
  • Wired or Wi-Fi on one card. The same Cloud LAN board takes wired LAN or Wi-Fi, so you are not carrying two part numbers.
  • Fits the range. The Cloud LAN board can be installed on all Density fogging systems, including systems already in the field.
  • Encrypted by default. Communication is secured with SSL/TLS.
  • Developer APIs. Available for customers who need fog status inside an existing corporate platform or dashboard.
Why it matters commercially

It turns a maintenance visit into a maintenance contract

Most fog callouts are not faults — they are questions. Active Cloud lets you answer them from the office, evidence that the system is healthy at renewal time, and offer remote monitoring as a billable line rather than absorbing the travel.

For multi-site customers it is usually the deciding feature: one login covering every branch, rather than a phone call to each store manager.

Density Active Server

The same control, on a site with no internet

Active Server is the on-premise version. A Windows PC inside the customer’s own network manages every fog generator on the LAN — no internet connection required, and no data leaving the building. It is the answer for bonded stores, secure facilities, public sector sites and any customer whose IT policy will not allow a cloud service.

Where it wins the job

The site that says no to cloud

Government, defence-adjacent manufacturing, pharmaceutical and bonded warehousing customers routinely rule out hosted platforms at procurement stage. Active Server keeps you in that tender: identical monitoring and remote discharge, entirely inside the customer’s LAN.

It is also the sensible choice on large single sites — a distribution centre with a dozen generators is easier to run from one PC on the network than from a hosted account.

What it does

  • One control panel on the LAN. Manage every Density system in the local network from a single Windows PC.
  • No internet connection required. Everything stays inside the customer’s intranet.
  • Monitors all machines. Live state for every generator on the network in one view.
  • Remote device assistance. Analytical control of all features and real-time system diagnostics.
  • Arming and discharge commands. Fire one or several systems together, with discharge time set in seconds.
  • LAN or Wi-Fi board. The Active Server board connects wired or wirelessly to the local network.

Active Server requires a PC running Microsoft Windows. Both platforms can run alongside a panel integration — the panel handles triggering, Active Cloud or Active Server handles oversight.

Installer questions

The questions engineers actually ask

Which alarm panels does Density integrate with?

Density fog generators integrate natively with Orisec control panels — wired via the Density RS232 Lead Kit to the panel’s RS232 COM port, or wirelessly using the W-Density module — and with the HKC 10270 panel using HKC’s RF-FOG wireless fogging module over SecureWave. On the video side, Density integrates with Milestone XProtect. Any panel with a suitable programmable output can also trigger a Density system conventionally; talk to us before you quote so we can confirm the cleanest method for the panel in front of you.

Do I need to run new cable to add fog to an existing alarm?

Not necessarily. On HKC the RF-FOG module links the panel to the generator over SecureWave two-way encrypted wireless, with no additional wiring. On Orisec you can use the W-Density wireless module instead of the RS232 lead. The generator itself still needs a mains supply, so plan for that on a retrofit.

What triggers the fog, and can I control how long it discharges?

Yes. On HKC the module can be set to release on alarm, confirmed alarm, panic or confirmed panic, and you can configure different discharge times for alarm events and panic events. On Orisec, trigger conditions and fogging management sit within the Orisec menu structure and can be set on site or remotely over UDL. Active Cloud and Active Server also allow arming and discharge with the duration set in seconds.

Can I programme and diagnose the system remotely?

On Orisec, configuration is available remotely through UDL — installers consistently tell us this is the single biggest practical advantage over other fog products. Beyond the panel, Active Cloud gives you browser-based diagnostics and real-time status for every system you have commissioned, and Active Server does the same inside a customer’s own LAN where there is no internet connection.

How does fog affect a graded or NSI/SSAIB approved installation?

Density systems are tested to BS EN 50131-8, the European standard for fog security devices, and are used alongside NSI and SSAIB approved intruder systems. Because the fog device is triggered by the panel as a recognised output rather than sitting outside the system, it can be documented as part of the installation. If you need the paperwork for a specifier or insurer, contact Dean for the applicable certificates. Six product data sheets are available in the hub; current C-Line sheets and the certification pack are still required.

Is the fog safe, and does it damage stock or trigger the fire alarm?

Use the specified Density fog fluid and follow the model manual, fluid safety data and site risk assessment. Confirm suitability for the stock, equipment and occupants on the site. It is security fog produced from the specified fog fluid. Fire detection does need consideration: optical and beam detectors can respond to dense fog, so the fire alarm interface must be designed in at survey stage. We will tell you exactly how to handle it for the detection on site — this is one of the most common questions we get and there is a straightforward answer for almost every configuration.

How do I size a system for a room?

Sizing is by protected volume, not floor area, and it also depends on the ceiling height, the obstructions and how quickly you need usable obscuration. Send us the dimensions and the risk and we will come back with the generator model, the recommended head position and the expected fill time. It is free, it takes very little of your time, and it stops the two expensive mistakes: undersizing the generator, and putting the head where the fog cannot do its job.

What ongoing work does a fog system generate for me?

Fluid replacement, annual service, a discharge test and a coverage re-check if the customer changes the layout or racking. On an Active Cloud site much of the health checking is done remotely, which means the service visit is shorter and the contract is easier to defend at renewal.
